THE KIND AWARENESS
Why are rhinos going extinct?
Rhinoceros are killed by humans for their horns, which are bought and sold on the black market, and which are used by some cultures for ornamental or traditional medicinal purposes. East Asia, specifically Vietnam, is the largest market for rhino horns. By weight, rhino horns cost as much as gold on the black market. People grind up the horns and consume them, believing the dust has therapeutic properties. The horns are made of keratin, the same type of protein that makes up hair and fingernails. Both African species and the Sumatran rhinoceros have two horns, while the Indian and Javan rhinoceros have a single horn. The IUCN Red List identifies the Black, Javan, and Sumatran rhinoceros as critically endangered.

As you can see from the photos above, the poachers cut off the upper portion (where the horns are) of the rhinos, leaving the poor animal to breed to death. All these killings are due to human's greed and demand. In Vietnam, rhino horns are been viewed as a symbol of high status. As a matter of fact, owning a rhino horn just make you a murderer, nothing more.
Rhino horns do not have any medicine benefits as well. The belief was built up over time by greedy business men to earn more money. People who are not aware of the horn's actual content (which consist of keratin, the same as our nails) pushed up the demands.
More than 2 rhinos are killed every day in Africa, pushing the rhinos to the brink of extinction.
